He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter G. Darden and Sara W. Richardson Darden; and his grandparents, William A., Kathryn Edwards Darden, James F. and Bessie Peeler Richardson.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce V. Darden; his children, Dawn L. Darden, Chester G. Darden (Andrea) and DeAnna K. Darden-Carroll (Barry); his grandchildren, Summer A. Skelton (Haden), Caroline G. Darden, Logan S. Darden and Kaden E. Carroll; his great grandchild Marley Kate Skelton; and his sister Debbie Darden York (Robin). He is also survived by 3 nieces.
