He was predeceased by: his parents, George Jackson Bevis and Sarah Emeline Benson Bevis; his son Gene Edward Bevis, Jr.; and his siblings, Clarence Bevis, Walter Bevis, Ernest Bevis, Effie Stricklin, Elsie Franks, Delsie Holcomb and Deloise Bevis.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Franks; his sons, Charles Brown and Gene Brown; his sister Hazel Holloway; and his close friend Tony Moore. He is also survived by two grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
