He was predeceased by: his parents, Arch D. Benson and Lue Austin Benson; and his siblings, Calvin Benson, Willard Benson, Jerry Benson, Dessie Taylor, Peggy Edwards and Rubye Stark.
He is survived by: his wife Margie Benson of Savannah, Tennessee; his children, Dennis Benson of Savannah, Tennessee and Connie Benson of Savannah, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Justina Weston (Les), Courtney Smith (Colt) and Isaiah Benson; his great grandchildren, Everett Weston, Grady Weston, Brilee Smith and Bristol Smith; his siblings, Stanley Benson of Savannah, Tennessee, Jeannie Mitchell of Savannah, Gladys Winslow of Jackson, Reba Moore of Savannah, Tennessee and Bessie Smith of Savannah, Tennessee; his nephew Bennett Austin of Savannah, Tennessee; and his great-nephew Logan Austin.
