He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Godwin and Marie Young Godwin; his sister Delois Morris; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Godwin. He is survived by: his wife Celia B. Godwin; his daughters, Sandra C. Owens (Tommy) and Denise G. Mallette (Don); his siblings, Willis Godwin (Kathleen), Lonnie Godwin and Ollie Gremmels; his grandchildren, Lana Silvia (Robert), Tina Conaway (Jeff), Jon Mallette, Joe Mallette (Amy), Jenny Threadgill, Lennie Farmer (Kevin) and Jason Mallette (Angie); his great grandchildren, Alex Silvia (Jessica), Aaron Silvia (Sarah), Lindsay Wigal (Lucas), Courtney Austin (Tyler), Camryn Conaway, Bailee Farmer, Peyton Farmer, Weston Farmer, Walker Farmer, Cindy Mallette, Zoe Mallette, Owen Mallette, Braxton Medina, Maddison Medina, Cecilia Mallette, Tyler Murphy, Elora Threadgill, Camilla Threadgill and Lyla Threadgill; and his great great grandchildren, Noah Kapphahn-Silvia, Hunter Silvia, Hayden Silvia, Miles Austin, Lucy Wigal, Mason Silvia, Hayley Mabry, Daylen Mabry and Ryder Tames. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sharon Baptist Church (3514 Cravens Rd, Savannah, TN 38372). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery (1780 Mt Herman Rd, Savannah, TN 38372).
