She was predeceased by: her husband William M. Sams (Bud); her parents, Robert Porterfield and Lucille Porterfield; and her siblings, Larry Porterfield, Clara Davis, Mildred Caldwell and Lorena Richards.

She is survived by: her children, Sharon French (Fred) and Randall M. Sams (Evelyn); and her brother Charles Porterfield of Medisto. She is also survived by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
