He was predeceased by: his father William Smitty; and his son Charlie Smitty. He is survived by: his mother Ruth Hall Smitty; his wife Elaine Smotherman Smitty; his sons, Larry Smitty, Jr. (Tammy) and Michael Smitty (Jennifer); and his siblings, James Smitty (Sue), Stanley Smitty and Cindy Young (Jackie). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
