He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Butler Thompson and Sarah Elizabeth Petty Thompson; his son Johnny Gray Thompson, Jr.; and his brother Harry Butler Thompson, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Martin Thompson; his children, Michelle Thompson, Cheree Neely and Brittany Thompson; his grandchildren, Megan Thompson, Morgan Neely, Amber Gambill, Corey Neely, Nicholas Gambill and Austin Neely; his great grandchildren, Jaylyn Neely, Aaliyah Neely, Peyton Neely, JJ Thompson and Mason Neely; and his brothers, Tommy Thompson and William Thompson.
