He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville, Sr. Shell and Irene Shell; his wife Peggy L. Shell; his grandson Jeremy S. Shell; and his daughter-in-law Tammy Shell.

He is survived by: his children, Nicky Shell (Kristi), Mark Shell (Lesia) and Greg Shell. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
