He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Fields and Helen Gardner Fields; his sister Patricia "Patsy" Benton; and his niece Debbie Benton Dykes. He is survived by: his wife Judy R. Fields; his children, Mark W. Fields and Angelia "Angie" Fields Maddox (Eddie); his grandsons, William Fields and Ryan Maddox; his brother Dewey Fields (Barb); his aunt Joan Gardner Baggett; and his cousin Mack Parker. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hawkins County Rescue Squad.
