He was predeceased by: his parents, Worley H Purkey and Rusha Minor Purkey; his stepmother Nellie Purkey; his grandparents, Jack, Emily Rhea Minor, William and Lucinda Jefferson Purkey; his nephew Rex Purkey; and his niece Donna Clark Barefield.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Ferrell Purkey; his daughter Denise Purkey Batich; his granddaughter Paulina Batich; his siblings, Lois Purkey Clark and Lowell Purkey (Linda); his sister-in-law Benita Ferrell; his nieces and nephews, Sandra Masters (Larry), Angela Surber (Stacey), Kandi Johnson, Jason Purkey, Shawn Ferrell, Terrence Ferrell and R. Moore; and his daughter Debbie Ferrell Branch. He is also survived by relatives and family friends.
