He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Lane; his daughter Karin Lane Trenholm; and his parents, George Lane, Sr. and Stella Haynes Lane. He is survived by: his sons, David Lane of Rogersville and Patrick Lane (Pamela) of Kyles Ford; his son-in-law Michael Trenholm of Rogersville; his grandsons, Brandon Lane, Joshua and Joseph Trenholm; and his siblings, Phyllis VanCleave (Terrell) and Lyle Lane. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
