He was predeceased by: his parents, Noah Courtney and Elsie Trent Courtney; his wife Mary Frances Stapleton Courtney; his daughter Michelle Courtney (Shelly); his brothers, Buford Courtney and V. R. Courtney; his siblings-in-law, Jimmy Warner, Bob Dixon, Mildred Courtney and Nadine Courtney; his niece Teresa Owens; and his nephew Ray Courtney.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter Alicia Ramey; his siblings, Mildred Warner of Morristown, Cleo Dixon of Rogersville and Roy Courtney of Morristown; his sister-in-law Virginia Maye Courtney; and his close friend Virginia Maye Courtney. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other friends.
