He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Lipe and Nettie Lou Lipe; his siblings, Coy, Gene, Ed, Roy Lipe and Betty Manis; his brother-in-law Walter Charlton; and his stepchildren, Carla Penley and Freddy Penley.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lipe; his children, Charlie Lipe (Dinah) of Rogersville and Mandy Hedgpeth (Steve) of Texas; his grandchildren, Cody Penley of Rogersville, Austin Lipe (Madison) of Surgoinsville, Elizabeth Craft (Ryne) of Rogersville, Spencer Hedgpeth of Texas, Cheyanna Lawson (Chase) of Greeneville and Jimmy Penley (Sandra) of Mosheim; his sister Bobbie Johnson of Surgoinsville; his sister-in-law Gladys Fannin of Kentucky; his aunt Blanche Brown of Greeneville; and his great grandchildren, Payton Buttry, Houston Lipe, Huxley Lipe, Karter Lipe and Kaisley Shelton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, music friends.
