He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Clay and Fleecie Seals Buttry, Sr.; his brothers, Henry Clay "June" Buttry, Jr., Willis "Will" Buttry, Hubert Buttry, Bill Buttry and Rick Buttry; his parents-in-law, V. R. and Mildred Lawson Courtney; and his siblings-in-law, Ray Courtney, Andrew Reed and Christine Davis Buttry.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Courtney Buttry; his children, Charles Buttry, Jr. (Vicki) and Amanda Clark (Brian Eugene); his grandson Nicholas Clark; his siblings, Darrell Buttry, Kenny "Tom" Buttry, Roger Buttry (Angie), Betty Davis, Ruby Reed and Lucille Cross; and his siblings-in-law, James Courtney (Shari), Sharlene Combs Buttry and Linda Carpenter (Glen). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
