He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Douthat; his parents, W. J. "Boat" Douthat and Ruby Walton Douthat; his stepmother Ernestine Douthat; his son Paul Douthat; and his brothers, J. P., Samuel and Richard Douthat.
He is survived by: his children, Paula Douthat, Tammy Harris (Drew), Theresa Breedlove (Gary) and Todd Harrell (Sarai); his grandchildren, Traci Johnson (Tim Manis), Richard Johnson, Haley Douthat, Dillon Douthat, Tara Ortman, Robbie Linkous (Amy), Joshua Linkous (Natalie), Amanda Dishner (Jon), Lindsey Jones (Tyler), Dustin Breedlove (Whitney), Zachary Breedlove (Julia), Joe Breedlove (Hillarey), Ben Breedlove (Lauren) and Chandler Arnold; his sisters, Margie Slater (John) and Glenna Parks of Belvidere Illinois; his close friend Alvin "Buddy" Dune; and also Darryl Catron III. He is also survived by 26 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
