He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorsey Carter and Ruby Carter; and his siblings, Paul Ed Carter and Esther Griffin. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Carter; and his daughters, Kendra Carter and Melissa Carter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Rockwood Church of Christ (129 S. Chamberlain Ave Rockwood, TN 37854).
