He is survived by: his wife Sarah Johnson; his children, Michele Matthews (Thomas), Robby Steelman, Connie Long (Scott) and Elmer Steelman Jr.; his grandchildren, Jamie Hackler-Matthews, Amanda Hill (Ryan), Ashley Lay, Allen Lay, Shelly Steelman, Austin Steelman of Thomas and Jonathan Long (Janice); his great grandchildren, Mason Lay, Mattie Webster, Raelynn Treece, Greyson Treece, Xaelee Howard, Taylan Davis, Ellie Hill, Deja Davis, Jaxson Long and Lily Hill; and his siblings, Katherine Parton, John Johnson (Sharon), Irene McNally, Wayne Johnson and Ethelene Mills (James). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
