He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clairece Powell of Roan Mountain and William Henry Powell; his wife Tonya Katrenia Crain Powell; his children, Brandon Powell, Monica Powell and Aaron Powell; his grandchildren, Levi, Shey, Dalton, Deliah, Aden, Hailey and Camille; his great grandchild Nellie Lain; his siblings, Jean Payne (Rodney), Jerome Powell (Lori) and Jerald Powell; his nieces and nephews, Makayla, Alex, Nicole, Tiffany and Christopher; and his mother-in-law Carolyn Boggs. He was also cherished by his children, mother, brothers, sisters, wife and grandchildren.
