He was predeceased by: his father Guy Byars; his stepmother Carrie Byars; his siblings, Paul Byars, Andrew Byars and Paula Counsell; and his stepbrothers, Donnie Brock and Russell Brock.
He is survived by: his mother Barbara Byars; his wife Mary of February; his sons, Robby Smith, Monty Byars (Addy), Kyle Byars (Katie Beth) and Kaleb (Caitlin); his grandchildren, Greer, Harper and Ellis; his sisters, Lisa Horner (Jim) and Cindy Bynum; his stepbrother Leonard Davis (Rhonda); and his sister-in-law Judy Byars. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
