He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy McDermott and Dorothy McDermott (Lalia Latham McDermott); and his sisters, Helen 'Sue Edmonds, Elizabeth 'Toye Collier and Odessa Jones.
He is survived by: his brothers, James Edward 'Jim McDermott and Erbie 'Sam McDermott; his daughters, Mae Etta Hammonds (Kelly) of Riceville, TN., Latonya Inman (Marquis) of Loudon, TN. and Sherann Smith (Matthew) of Greensboro, Ala.; his siblings, Alice Oliver, Carol 'Wincie McDaniel, Kenneth 'Bub' McDermott (Charlesetta) and Webster; his sister-in-law Karen Peak of Knoxville, TN.; and his uncle Burkett L. Witt of Athens, TN.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-greatgrandchildren.
In compliance with COVID the family request also that mask be worn, and social distancing be observed.
