He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Merrell and Mae Rymer Merrell; his siblings, Beatrice Wilcox (Wayne), Bonnie Wilcox (Russell), Amos Merrell and Arthur Leonas Merrell; and his brother-in-law J. M. Lowe.
He is survived by: his wife Una Couey Merrell; his son Greg Merrell (Jill); his granddaughters, Halee Womac (Luke) and Holly Powell (Punk); his great grandchildren, Weston Powell, Ivy Powell and Lawson Womac; and his sister Minnie Lowe. He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
