He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Thomas Downing and Ada Breiner Downing; and his brother Eugene Downing. He is survived by: his children, Barbara Fausett (Bill Reininger) of Hebron, WI, Robert T. Downing, Jr. (Tricia) of Machesney Park, IL and James Downing (Lilyann) of Mesa, AZ; and his siblings, Roberta Schmerbach of Guttenberg, IA and William Downing (Margaret) of South Belot, IL. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
