He was predeceased by: his parents, Elvis Matheny, Sr. and Clara Matheny; his wife Geneva Hughes; and his siblings, Virginia Morehead, William Eli Matheny and Elvis Matheny, Jr..
He is survived by: his sons, Steven Matheny of Puryear and John Matheny (Angie) of Murray, Kentucky; his daughter-in-law Gala Matheny of Paris; his grandchildren, Alicia, Matthew, Adam, Brandon, Tyson, Cody and Christopher Matheny; and his sisters, Dorothy Hutson of Allen Park, Odean Morris of Paris and Carolyn Fodge of McKenzie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
