He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Taft and Ruby Hardiman Johnson. He is survived by: his siblings, McDonald Johnson, Alma Johnson (Sissy), Bedford Johnson, Dwain Johnson and Gaynell Johnson Frazier; and his sister-in-law Mamie Johnson of Pulaski, TN.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many friends.
