He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Leighton and Ruby Velma Edens Leighton; and his in-laws, W. O. and Vera Sundy Whattley. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Whattley Leighton; his children, Michele Burrus (Brian) and Michael Leighton (Glenda); his daughter-in-law Sherry Belew; his grandchildren, Tim, Katharyn, Andrea and Karalyn; his grandchildren-in-law, Marshall Jr., Hartley and Cayce Belew; his great grandchildren, Braelynn and Aaron; his brother Mickey Leighton (Sue); his nephew MJ Leighton (Eden); his niece Amanda Schisler (Jeffery); his great-nieces, AnnaBeth and Jessie Schisler; his aunts, Mary Frances Rau and Marie Edens; and his friends, Casey Rogers, Jesse Bailey, Andrew Tomlin, Brandon Houchen, Brian Parker, Chris Harris, Austin Marler and Matt McGinniss.
