He was predeceased by: his wife Vera Joyce Fitzgerald Chaffin; his parents, John Thomas and Julia Haynie Chaffin; and his siblings, Virginia Swafford, James and Bobby Chaffin.

He is survived by: his son Ernest Glenn Chaffin, Jr. of Pulaski.
