He was predeceased by: his parents, James Monroe and Eula Lee Hopkins; his son Jason Monroe Hopkins; his grandson Aaron Jase Weber (Hopkins); and his siblings, Deloris M. Housewright, Evelyn G. York, Elizabeth A. Hopkins, James M. Hopkins, Jr., Ronald G. Hopkins and Terry L. Hopkins.
He is survived by: his wife Regina Ford Hopkins; his sons, Jeff Hopkins (Faith) and Jon Hopkins; his grandchildren, Madelynn Grace Hopkins, Maddox Hopkins and Boe Hopkins; his siblings, Barbara N. Evans (Denny), Sharon G. Pack (Carl), Robert W. Hopkins, Charles M. Hopkins and Michael D. Hopkins; and his close friend Heather Babb. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
