He was predeceased by: his mother Ruth Cate; and his brother Larry Cate. He is survived by: his father Charles Cate; his siblings, Joel Cate (Lisa), Teresa Brown (Sam), Brett Cate (Janet) and Regina Key Mara (Bob); and his nieces and nephews, Doug McCloud, Adam Cate, Ryan Key, Catelyn Gantte, Bayley Cate, Christian Cate, Fendi Martin and Vincent Martin.
