It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Judy Cates of Powell, Tennessee, born in Jellico, Tennessee, who passed away on May 14, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Lee Stout and Azalee Blankenship Stout; and her sister Nancy. She is survived by: her husband Charles Merritt "Pete" Cates, Jr.; her children, David Gregory (Greg), Cates (Amy) of Knoxville, TN, Charles Merritt Cates, III (Chuck) of Bentonville, AR, Timothy Stout (Tim) and Suzanne Grace Cates Denton (Clark) of Knoxville, TN.; her grandchildren, Taylor, Dean (Betsy), Peter, Michael, Paige, Mathieu Cates, Emma, Olivia and Phoebe Denton; and her great grandchild Gwen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Powell United Methodist Church Benevolence Fund.
