He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Melvin Whitson and Jeanette Royce Whitson; his wife Cynthia Whitson; his daughter Pam Whitson of Gallatin, TN; his siblings, Jamie Whitson of Portland, TN, Randy Whitson of Portland, TN, Letricia King of Portland, TN and Kathy Boyd of Portland, TN; and his pet Hitch. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
