She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnny Winfield and Martha Lorene Watts Balthrop; her husband Robert "Bob" Mitchell; her son DeWayne Elliott; and her siblings, Wendell Balthrop, Judy Balthrop, Barbara Jones, Janice Douglas and Marcia Jean Morris.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Stefanie Ann Bamberg (Daniel) and Stacy Marie Horner (Jamie Deloach); and her sister Joyce Drake (Billy).
