He was predeceased by: his father Ralph Sherfey; and his siblings, Tommy, Ronnie Sherfey and Yvonne Morrell. He is survived by: his mother Opal Riley Sherfey; his daughters, Gina Chatman (Travis) and Melissa Foster (Michael); his grandchildren, Garrett Johnson, Deanna Foster and Colton Foster; his stepgrandchildren, Suzie and Joe Chatman; his siblings, Lynes Sherfey (Gerry), Carolyn Watts (Junior) and Diane McCready (Charlie); and his sister-in-law Kathy Denton-Jayne (Larry Jayne). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Morris-Baker Funeral Home & Cremation Services (2001 E Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Morris-Baker Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel (2001 E Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601). A committal service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park (2630 TN-75, Blountville, TN 37617).
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
