He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil C. Peters and Ina Mae Peters; his wife Sarah Lou Peters; his son Leonard Earl Peters, Jr.; and his siblings, Glen, Lawrence, Norman Peters, Helen Elkins, Billie Mackey and Phyllis Turley.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elizabeth Jean Peters of Franklin, TN and Sarah "Cathy" Sidebottom of Piney Flats, TN; and his brothers, Clyde Peters of Ripley, WV and Dean Peters of Fairmont, WV. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
