It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Dave Shafer of Piney Flats, Tennessee, born in South Miami, Florida, who passed away on April 30, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Luther Shafer and Catherine Shafer; his wife Karyn; his children, Kenneth Shafer (Kaitlyn), Scott Shafer (Tiffany), Caroline Shafer, April Walker (Lyell) and Charity Amenta (Jake); his sister Barbara Johnson; his niece Lucinda Hokanson; and his cousin Idykate Codington.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored to have donations made to The University of Florida Foundation, Inc. in an effort to further the study, education, and treatment of Spindle Cell Sarcoma.
