It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth A Oakes of Pikeville, Tennessee, who passed away on January 24, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husbands, Woodrow Oakes (Jennings Seals) and Curtis Essex; her parents, Fred and Matilda (Tildie Frady); her siblings, Ruby Blankenship (Charlie), Otto Frady (Lennie), Fred Jr. Frady (Pat), Oscar and Oliver Frady; and her daughter Julia Elaine Oakes.
She is survived by: her children, Judy O. Swafford (Tom Goetz) and Wendell Oakes (Sheila); her grandchildren, Martin Deweese (Carla), Mickey Swafford (Simone), Ronee Swafford (Daniel), Will Angel (Amber), Chad Oakes (Samantha "Sam" Walker) and Ryan Oakes (Mandy Motes); her great grandchildren, Harlee Deweese, Jason Myers, Kaitee Oakes (Sammie), Brayden, Brycen Angel, Mollee Oakes, Cash Oakes, Expectant (girl), Cody Sexton, Katlyn Brandon, Rylan Oakes (Austin Cain), Krislyn Oakes (Eli), Emery, Lilly Oakes, Alex, Emilee, Hub, Sienna, Mika, Wyatt and Stella Swafford; and her great great grandchildren, Brody, Jaxon and Aurora.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A celebration of life was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Pikeville Funeral Home Chapel (39299 TN-30, Pikeville, TN 37367).
