He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Slain and Doris Slain; his grandmothers, Bessie Thurston Ira and Ethel Slain; his in-laws, Leroy and Lyndal Rushing; and his brother-in-law Terry White.

He is survived by: his father-in-law Leroy Rushing; his wife Jackie Slain; his children, Stephanie Moore (Lowery) and Dustin Slain; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Lee (Jerry) and Lila White. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
