He was predeceased by: his wife Beatrice Cagle; his parents, Ottie Cagle and Mae Cagle; and his siblings, Guynn Cagle, John Cagle and Addie Caldwell.

He is survived by: his siblings, Lewis Cagle of Knoxville, Norman Cagle of Knoxville, Roy Cagle of Knoxville, Marzell Reece of Cleveland, TN and Toye Messer of Newport; his nephews, Dennis Wayne Caldwell and Randy Messer; and his niece Amanda Henry (Warren Bryant). He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
