He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Frank Crawford Chambers and Catherine Lynch Steinberg; his significant other Anne Indergard Chambers; his sons, Barry Chambers of Paris and David Chambers of Memphis, Tennessee.; his sisters-in-law, Nancy Jones (Jim) of Greenville and Susan Neese of Paris; and his nieces, Stacy Jones Bodary, Amy Armstrong and Ellen Neese Adams.
Joseph suffered in his later years with Alzheimer's. His family requests that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
