He was predeceased by: his wife Marilyn Johnson; his parents, Verlin Johnson and Eva Burke Johnson; and his brother Jim Johnson. He is survived by: his children, Blithe Cummings (Alan) of Casper, WY, Justin Johnson (Hope) of Paris, TN, Dean Johnson (Shara) of San Antonio, TX, Melissa Nergard (Kirk) and Alan Merritt II; his brothers, Herb Johnson of Bloomingdale, MI and Ken Johnson (Marsha) of Bloomingdale, MI; his grandchildren, Paisley Johnson, Hadley Johnson, Emily Cummings, Sean Cummings (Retha), Joshua Johnson, Caitlyn Johnson and Connor Johnson; and his great grandchild Adeline Cummings.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be made to any organization that helps Alzheimer's patients or funds Alzheimer's research.
