He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Butler and Thelma Butler; and his siblings, Arnold Butler, Arvil Butler (Dude), Glen Butler, Carolyn Sue Johnson and Faye Wright Byrd.

He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Faye Butler; and his brothers, George Butler (Debbie) of Oneida and Sonny Butler (Connie) of Chattanooga.
