He was predeceased by: his parents, Wheaton Slaven and Pearl Slaven; his sister Leda Slaven; and his brothers-in-law, Gordon Cecil and Bobby Sandiford.
He is survived by: his wife Cathy K. Slaven; his sons, Richard (Labriska) of Oneida, Tennessee, James (Mary) of Oneida, Tennessee and Mark (Sherry) of Oneida, Tennessee; his stepsons, Paul Pierce (Diana) of Deland and Tony Pierce (Hillary) of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; his sisters, Brenda Brenneman (Jeff) of Winfield, Florence Cecil of New Palestine and Pat Sandiford of Louisville, Mississippi; his close friends, Amona Voiles and Tony Ashcraft; and his daughter Kathy Lleuwen. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
