He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Pamela Gail Deal Burke; his sons, Philip Wayne Burke of Oneida, James Walter Burke of Lancaster and Christopher William Burke of Lancaster, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Keyeria Smith, Christopher Burke, Katlyn Burke, Lily Burke, Rayland Burke, Haven Burke, Easton Burke and Wanda Whetzel (Jimmy); his daughter Debbie; and his close friend Joe Manual of Lexington, Kentucky. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
