He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter McKinley and Janette Douglas Stephens; his son Herman McKinley; and his siblings, William Oliver, Walter McKinley, Jr., Carol Privett, Vicky Smiddy, Shirley Lee and Geneda Jones.
He is survived by: his children, Samuel Stephens (Bobbie), Mindy Berry, Candi Stephens, Madge Morris, Dolly West, Charles S. Stephens, Jr. and Derek Stephens; his siblings, Gary Stephens and Mary Hill; and his close friends, Ray Anderson (Dorothy) and Carmel Cross (Ann). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
