He was predeceased by: his parents, E. M. Thomas and Thelma Kidd Thomas; his wife Carol R. Pierce Thomas; his son Denny Joel Thomas; and his siblings, Ruth Terry, Leon and Lloyd Paul Thomas.
He is survived by: his sons, Dillard and David Thomas (Trenna); and his sister Evalee Thomas. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
