It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Ann Freels of Oakdale, Tennessee, who passed away on August 12, 2021, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her grandparents, Roy A., Ida Smith Foust, Joseph and Flora H. Smith; and her parents, Charles Albert and Evelyn Foust Smith.

She is survived by: her husband John Allen Freels of Oakdale, TN.; her sister Carol Jean Smith Scoggins (Paul) of Oakdale, TN.; her children, John Michael Freels (Elizabeth Prince) of Oakdale, TN and Sonia Sidlauakas (Dave Hamby) of Crossville, TN.; her grandchildren, William Asher Prince of Oakdale, TN, John Dewey Ivan Freels of Oakdale, TN, John Henry Levi Freels of Oakdale, TN and Elizabeth Nicole Gerber of Oliver Springs, TN.; and her sister-in-law Joan O'Dell of Oakdale, TN. She is also survived by Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

“Barbara had a heart of gold and the kids and I are heartbroken at the news of her passing. My daughter said, “Mom, she helped me get through middle school! She was always there to help me and encourage me when I needed her.” She was so gracious and kind. When I resumed teaching, I had no clothes to wear as all of my ‘work clothes’ were scrubs. This dear, sweet lady took me on a shopping spree and bought new clothes to wear to work and school clothes for the kids. She was such an Angel. ❤️”
