James touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Younkin and Ethyln Lofton Younkin. He is survived by: his wife Sheri Lynn Younkin; his sons, Dave Younkin, Steve Younkin (Justine) and Tim Younkin (Callie); his stepson Corey Lee (Megan); and his grandchildren, Lennox, Presley, Vander (Steve), Adaline, Lydia, Brienne (Tim), Brennon, Ryland, Bodhi and Winnie (Corey).
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge (1101 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location.
As a senior nuclear safeguards engineer, he was proud of his contributions to nonproliferation for his country.
