She was predeceased by: her parents, James Howard and Nell Elizabeth Kennedy; her son Steve Carpenter; her stepson Ira Curtis; her siblings, Marsha "Liz" Farmer and James "Junior" Kennedy; and her nephew Adam Farmer.
She is survived by: her husband T. I. "Tommy" Curtis Junior; her sister Virginia; her children, Shannon McPhail, Elizabeth (Avery Kelley), Angela and Byron; her daughter-in-law Maria Farmer; and her grandchildren, Jordan McPhail, Jaclyn, Jacob Taylor and Addison Farmer.
