It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lucy Jane Thornton (Newport, Tennessee), who passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband J. C. Thornton; her parents, Jesse Morgan and Ella Clementine Morgan; and her brother J. P. Morgan. She is survived by: her sons, Jay Thornton (Esther) and Keith Thornton (Rhonda); her siblings, Charles Morgan (Betty) of Birmingham, AL, Wiley Morgan of Newport, TN and Sue Hurst of Newport, TN; her grandchildren, Jaynese Waddell (Jon), Keeley Hays (Nathan), JJ Thornton (Emily), Kaeley White (Jackson) and Korrey McFalls (Matthew); and her great grandchildren, Jaydon Cooper Waddell, Eliana Joy Thornton and Koen Ridge McFalls.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Manes Funeral Home (363 E Main St, Newport, TN 37821). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel (363 E Main St, Newport, TN 37821). A burial was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens (2642 US-25W #70, Dandridge, TN 37725).
