He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Hammonds and Mamie Hammonds. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Farr Hammonds; his children, Molly Scarbrough (Rodney) of Athens, TN, John Hammonds (Shelley), Clint Hammonds (Amy) of Newport, TN and Dan Hammonds (Jenna) of Greeneville, TN.; his grandchildren, Laura Towne (Andy), Hannah Tapp (John), Max Hammonds (Hannah), Wilson Scarbrough, Faith Hammonds (Patrick Ledford), Dixie Hammonds, Eli Hammonds, Leah Hammonds, Emma Hammonds, Miley Hammonds, James Scarbrough, Julia Scarbrough, Anna Hammonds and Presley Hammonds; and his brothers, Benny Hammonds (Beverly) of Gatlinburg and Richard Hammonds.

Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel (363 E Main St, Newport, TN 37821). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Union Cemetery (420 Mineral St, Newport, TN 37821-3900).
