He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Ray Spurgeon Sr. and Maggie Valentine; his stepfather Doyle Valentine; his brothers, Fred "Dickie" Norton and Ronnie Spurgeon; and his nephews, Danny "Toot" Spurgeon and Shannon Barton.
He is survived by: his son Josh Spurgeon (Ashley) of Newport; his sisters, Betty Riddle (Jimmy) of Morristown and Susie Barton; his stepson Chris Hammitt of Newport; and his friend Debbie Hammitt of Newport.
